Slowing Down

My daughter has been trying to teach me a lesson that I still don't get. S-l-o-w down, Mom! My times are different to yours (and healthier). Babies have plenty to teach us: they take naps when tired, the eat slowly, they drink plenty of fluids, they play and laugh a lot, they thrive when they are hugged and kissed frequently. Pretty smart, these infants.

Mi hija ha tratado de enseñarme algo que todavía no he comprendido. D-e-s-p-a-c-i-o, Mami. Mis timepos son diferentes a los tuyos (y más saludables). Los bebés tienen mucho para enseñarnos: toman siestas cunado están cansados, comen despacio, toman mucho líquido, juegan y se ríen mucho, florecen cuando se los abraza y besa con frecuencia. Inteligentes estos bebés, no?

Cell Phone Rescue

Have you ever dropped your phone in water? I have twice, in the toilet and in the washing machine. Apparently, in some cases, they can be saved! According to a useful article in American Baby, here's what to do:

- Remove the battery

- Seal battery and phone in Tupperware

- Add a silica gel pack

- Wait 1 day before reassembling your device and turning it on
I wished I had known this with the other two phones.

¿Alguna vez se les cayó el celular en agua? A mí me pasó dos veces: en la tasa del baño y en la lavadora. Parece que en algunos casos se pueden salvar. Según un artículo útil en American Baby, hay que hacer lo siguiente:

- Sacar la batería

-Poner la batería y el teléfono en un contenedor plástico con tapa

- Agregar un paquetito de gel de sílice

- Esperar 1 día antes de volver a armar el telefono y prenderlo.

Ojalá hubiese sabido esto con los otros dos teléfonos.

Baby's First 4th of July

My Munchkin is celebrating her first 4th of July this weekend. We'll do something simple to celebrate Independence Day and we'll remember the soldiers and their families. We'll pray for their safe return home.

Three Months - Tres Meses

It's been 3 months since I started this blog! Time flies and sometimes I want to grab on to a moment and savor it a little longer... but we all know that's not possible and the very reason why we celebrate: to remember and honor wonderful times and to mark highlights of our personal history. 7 Months Bilingual Baby

By 7 months things change... my daughter has become super mobile, rolling back and forth on her tummy, reaching for anything within her grasp, trying out some pre crawling moves and... yelling. Her language development seems pretty much the same as a few weeks ago but she's discovered volume. She is into yelling instead of cooing. So there appeared a new concept in her life: NO, NO, NO. And she understands it clearly - in both languages -but couldn't care less. Her loudness is unpredictable and she seems entertained by it so what are we to do? Let her experiment and hope this is a fleeting stage in her development.

A los 7 meses las cosas cambian... mi hija esta super movediza: da vueltas para adenate y para atrás, trata de agarrar todo lo que esté cerca, practica movimientos para gatear y... grita. Su desarrollo lingüístico es muy similar al de unas semanas atrás pero ahora descubrió el volumen. Grita en vez de balbucear como bebé. Por consiguiente, apareció un nuevo concepto en su vida: NO, NO, NO. Lo entiende claramente - en los dos idiomas- pero no le importa para nada. Su volumen es impredecible y parece que la entretiene. Entonces, ¿qué hacemos? La dejamos experimentar y esperamos que sea una etapa pasajera de su desarrollo.

Mudarse

Mudarse es un gran cambio y los cambios ofrecen oportunidades. Me he mudado varias veces en mi vida pero esta vez es especial porque lo hago con mi familia. La casa que dejamos está llena de recuerdos del hogar que construímos con mi esposo y mi hija y la casa a donde vamos es una nueva aventura que emprendemos juntos.
Lo más abrumador hasta ahora es ver la cantidad de pertenencias que acumulamos y lo poco que realmente importan...

Moving is a big change and changes are opportunities. I've moved many times but this one is special because I'm doing it with my family. The house we are leaving is filled with memories built with my husband and daughter and the one we are moving to is a new adventure we are starting together.
The most overwhelming so far is to see the amount of belongings we accumulate and the little they really matter...
